  • Water: 1 gallon per person per day (3+ days)

  • Battery-powered radio & extra batteries
  • Flashlight & extra batteries
  • First aid kit
  • Whistle, dust mask, plastic sheeting & duct tape
  • Moist towelettes, garbage bags & ties
  • Wrench/pliers to turn off utilities
  • Manual can opener; local maps
  • Phone chargers & backup battery

Smoke Alarms

Install on every level and in/near bedrooms. Test monthly and replace batteries yearly. Replace alarms every 10 years.

Home Fire Escape Plan

Practice twice a year. Ensure two exits per room and a designated outdoor meeting place.

Cooking Safety

Stay in the kitchen when cooking. Keep flammables away and a lid nearby for grease fires.

Heating Safety

Keep 3 ft clearance around heaters. Turn off space heaters when unattended. Service chimneys annually.
